About Wing Chun
Wing Chun is a complete system of fighting and self defense developed in China 3 centuries ago. Check out Wing Chun's History.
Wing Chun is unique in that you do not need strength to do it, as the system is one of advanced techniques that are easy to do and can be used against all weights, sizes, types and strengths. Because of this it is suitable for women and light weights, and it can be learned by anyone of any shape, size, strength or age.
Wing Chun's most famous student is Bruce Lee who studied for 5 years under grandmaster Ip Man, and was the first person to take Wing Chun from Hong Kong out into the western world.
The Laws of math's, physics and the human skeleton makes Wing Chun effortless. It has been called an intelligent martial art because it is based on the correct use of techniques that obey these basic laws of nature and not on brute strength. It is very simple and direct and is designed to conquer force and confrontation with control.
In learning Wing Chun you would enhance your confidence, health and defense preservation, knowing that when threatened you can give back opponents force and more. Wing Chun is an investment in your person as you are bettering yourself, valuing yourself more, and learning to look after yourself.
Wing Chun is fun and easy to learn, although it cannot be learned overnight. It can be learned in as little as 3 years by those who put in the effort, but it would take 6 months to a year for someone to have developed a good self defense.
Wing Chun is taught in a structured way so that all aspects of the system are learnt properly, starting with a focus on self defense (being able to fight when attacked) and later leading into all aspects of fighting. Check out the Wing Chun teaching system.
The origin of the Wing Chun being taught is via Yip Man and Sifu Tony Brooks.
